We’ll be using the (free) software package, “R”, for this training. R is a command based language, but don’t let that freak you out. We’ll go through things step-by-step.
But, BEFORE the workshop, you’ll need to install two pieces of software: (1) R and the (2) “RStudio.” Here’s where you can find them.

1. R
R is a “do-it-all” piece of statistical software (really, everything--GIS, multivariate, SNA, and more). It’s free and can be downloaded here:

2. R-STUDIO
Rstudio is (basically) a graphic interface for R. It really helps to navigate the software, especially in a class setting. You need to install R before you install Rstudio.

3. IGRAPH LIBRARY
We’ll be using a “library” inside of R called igraph. We’ll download this in class, but if you want to check it out, you can find it here. There are instructions on the site for how to download within R.

4.OTHER THINGS (not for training session)
For those of you wishing to check out a bit more of R (which you don’t need to do), feel free to take a peek at some additional information at the following websites on other software within R that do SNA:
