Social Network Analysis (SNA)has, quite literally, produced hundreds of papers and books over the last decade. While it’s not necessary to do any reading before training, here are list of general readings on SNA as well as some specific readings on its use in the study of criminal networks.
GENERAL OVERVIEW OF SNA
Here are a few of the better popular science books. Nothing technical here, just a general read of some of the ideas and applications of SNA.
• Connected by Chirstakis & Fowler
• LInked by Barabasi
• Six Degree by Watts
These readings give some examples of the use of SNA in studying criminal networks. The first paper is a sort of “overview” of the state of the field.
